The church was founded by Apostle Ajayi Agbona who started his ministry in the Christ Apostolic Church. At first, he was an itinerant preacher, preaching the gospel of Christ with zeal and vigor in the same Ogunpa area of Ibadan where he had received the divine call.

Apostle John Ajayi Agbona was born on Wednesday, April 21, 1920, at Okelemo in Oke-Emo, Ilawe-Ekiti, situated in Ekiti South-West Local Government in Ekiti State. He hailed from the family of Pa Agbona and Madam Maria Alege Agbona.

Pastor John Babatunde Taiwo (JP) was born on October 27, 1956, as the first of six children. He hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State. In 1964, he moved to Lagos, where he completed his primary and secondary education.
